“Nice work here Elise. Love the color palette. I also like the way the blue runs through the painting background, pants, and foreground. This is tying the dark values together and creating a nice balance and eye movement. You more or less centered the figure which can be challenging compositionally but you have pulled it off by that red to create some nice asymmetry as well as the values I mentioned above. Lots of great paint interest in the surrounding areas as well. Well done!”

“Very well done Lynn! Her legs looks fine to me in the photo (could be different color in person). Your composition is working because of the light vertical line work to the right that is balancing the heavy dark on the left. It is just barely balancing it, however it is working. Partially because of it just barely working, it creates a good tension between the left and right sides of the painting. Great figure too—frame it!”
