Ink on Frosted Mylar
In this quick sketch I worked with India Ink on a product called Dura-lar. I chose the frosted/matte version as I love the effects it produces. This mylar product accepts water based inks although you will see some resistance if you use a lot of water.

Paint Directly on Your Photo
You are looking here at a photograph printed on heavy paper stock. (You can also use matte photo paper.) I then painted directly on top of the paper with my oil paints trying to match the values and playing with the colors. Obviously, this project is not archival, but it is a lot of fun and encourages experimentation. It is also one more study/practice of facial shapes and shadows that will help you with abstracting faces on your own, more personal work.

Try Procreate
This fun app is for IOS iPads and iPhones. You can ind it on the Apple App Store. Below is a link to a quick video I created that will show you the basics of How to Use ProCreate.
